Subject: URGENT: Life or Death for Wolves
We're saving the lives of wolves, but we need your help. Please make a tax-deductible donation now. |
Dear Wildlife Supporter, In the coming months, hundreds of wolves could be killed in the Northern Rockies -- some from ongoing hunting seasons. Others will be gunned down by state or federal agents -- a deadly sentence funded by taxpayer dollars. The future of wolves in the American West is at stake -- but Defenders' pioneering work is making a difference for these magnificent animals. Please help secure a lasting future for wolves by supporting the expansion of our proven, on-the-ground work to keep wolves -- and livestock -- out of harm's way. It's about keeping wolves away from livestock -- using fencing, guard dogs, range riders and other non-lethal methods -- and it's proven to be effective. We know for a fact that where our projects are deployed, wolf lives are saved. Where they are not, tragedy is likely to ensue. Such a tragedy played out just last month in Idaho. After wolves were suspected of killing livestock, three young wolves were shot from the skies by federal Wildlife Services agents. Help prevent future tragedies. Please donate now to ensure a lasting future for wolves in the American West -- and protect the wildlife and wild places you care about. For more than a decade, Defenders has been working on the ground with federal, state and local officials, biologists and ranchers to keep wolves out of harm's way. But in these difficult times, we need your help to fund these urgent, wolf-saving projects. Your donation will help fund projects that work. Defenders' efforts in Idaho's Wood River Valley have helped keep livestock in the Sawtooth National Forest safe -- and the wolves that live there out of harm's way. Each year, more than 10,000 sheep graze in the heart of wolf habitat in the Wood River Valley. During the last four years, only a handful of sheep were lost to wolves where Defenders' programs were implemented. These pioneering programs are just part of Defenders' work to ensure wolves are an enduring part of the American West -- and caring people like you are making a powerful difference. Please donate now to save the lives of wolves in the Northern Rockies. Our work to save wolves in the American West is uniquely ambitious -- and so is our goal. We need to raise $75,000 by midnight Friday to ensure we can continue this vital work to save the lives of wolves and other wildlife. Wildlife Supporter, if just 100 people from give as little as $15 or more, we can easily reach our goal. Will you help? Together, we can ensure a lasting future for wolves in the American West.
